World’s Largest Passive House Conference

I am excited to attend the 17th International Passive House Conference in Frankfurt, Germany on April 17-21. With 16 session and 90 presentations this is the world’s largest Passive House Exhibition. With a focus on energy efficiency and renewables, the conference will cover a wide range of topics from regional concepts, energy refurbished projects, and the use of renewable energy sources.

This years conference will include presentations on large number of US projects, a trend that is growing as energy use continues to become a greater focus in buildings.

Just last month, Schock received Passive House certification of the very first “thermal bridge free” construction for balconies while attending the BAU show, the World’s leading fair for Building and Design.

During BAU, Patricia Sulzbach, a Building Physics Expert with Schock, recieved the certificates for the new Schöck Isokorb ® AX for parapets and balustrades. As the very first and so far the only insulated supporting elements, some balcony connections in the QXT series have met the “thermal bridge free connection” criterion. This means greater freedom of design during planning and optimization of costs for implementation since it allows the balcony to be connected to the facade of the building in a self-supporting and thermal bridge free manner, using only 2 supports instead of 4.

Patricia met with Prof. Dr. Feist founder and director of the Passive House Institute to receive the certificates. This was a great honor, as Prof. Dr. Feist is well respected for his years and outstanding work in the international Passive House movement to reduce heating energy consumption and conserve resources. He is a role model in perseverance and desire for change.

I look forward to attending the conference and will report back on the findings from the 17th International Passive House Conference.

Tschüs
