One Day CPCIfrom Christian Witt
The CPCI (Canadian Pre-Cast/Prestressed Concrete Institute) Summer Meeting took place this year from May 28th to May 30th at the beautiful and iconic Fort Harry Hotel Spa and Conference Centre in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba.
As a new and proud associate member and Corporate Sponsor, Schöck Canada Inc. attended the roundtable and the Strategic Committee Planning Session during the first day. It was a fantastic experience to meet well known industry professionals, pre-cast manufacturing representatives and product / service suppliers all across Canada.
CPCI (manufacturing) Members represent 45 production plants throughout the Country. The benefits of precast / prestressed concrete structures are unique and very often the best choice to accelerate schedule in many projects. Fast production, delivery and erection save time, thus money, providing at the same time structural durability and low maintenance and life-time cost effectiveness in today’s construction environment.
As a Corporate Member I also had the great opportunity to welcome manufacturers at our booth during the 2 hours Cocktail Reception and discuss with them about their needs and the possible benefits of our ComBAR Glass Fibre Reinforcement System to satisfy their own and their customer’s needs. In the company of great professionals, enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres and exquisite red wine, the evening turned into a nice, relaxing and successful event in a rather familiar and casual atmosphere.
But the evening did not end there. All participants walked to the 1km far Brazilian Restaurant, Carnaval, where we all had the chance to taste 16 different types of meat and several sides accompanied by Argentinian Wine. I am glad that some of us decided to walk back to the hotel and burn some of the thousands of calories ;-).
This one day, I learned a lot about CPCI, their members, their goals and their plans for the future. I networked with key persons in the industry and was able to set up follow-up meetings with them in the near future. Becoming a Member was a very smart decision. I am looking very forward to the next CPCI Summer Meeting in May 2014 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
I would like to thank the organizing committee for the excellent organization and planning of the meetings. And I encourage everyone to become a Member of CPCI and their subcommittees. CPCI offers a great variety of benefits and an excellent opportunity to network with other professional as well as to expose our products and services to the users.
