Welcome, Phil…now stay home!

from Tracy Dacko

Schöck North America is proud to welcome Regional Sales Manager Phil Eberley to the team. Joining us in the midst of the COVID-19 lockdown, his introduction to the team was unlike anyone else’s so we asked him to share a few words about his first weeks:

“What a way to start a new job…alone…in my house…without personal introductions, interactions or trainings with my new teammates.

On April 1st, I started as a Regional Sales Manager with Schöck NA. With all the excitement that comes with starting a new role in a different organization, came the challenges of learning the ropes over a computer screen without in-person interactions. For those of you who know me, and will get to know me, I much prefer face-to-face interactions. But that’s life. In this particular case, I would like to thank the whole team at Schöck NA (and technology) for helping me adjust to this new position. You have all taken time out of your still busy schedules to help me adjust and learn this new position. You have all seen me over video chat, but I look forward to meeting you all in person.

I am almost a month into the new position and we have traction. Like many of us working from home, it is important to keep a positive mindset. It can be difficult at times when we are all isolated but it is important to stay apart to help the essential workers who are already working very hard. That being said, the rest of us need to stay occupied. It the best time to try new things. Pick up a new hobby, learn new skills… I wish everyone success in these trying times. It is a great time to call an old friend or embrace new ways to communicate with others! I like to think I acquired new skills and got a bit better at cooking, but like everyone else, I am looking for the world to open back up again. I haven’t played hockey in a while… Can you tell?”

Well, Phil, we may not officially have met you yet, but we are confident that we soon will. It’s been an unusual start, but we know that once you are allowed out, there will be no stopping you. Welcome to the team!
